Crowdsourcing and curating YouTube videos to show them in cinemas? Great idea! Dagan Cohen explains why...
MIPBlog spoke to Dagan Cohen, the founder of Upload Cinema, a Dutch initiative whereby the best YouTube videos on a given theme – say, cats – are crowdsourced and curated, then shown in a movie theatre to hundreds of fans. The idea, Cohen explains, is to make the usually-solitary practice of watching online video more social and fun.
Upload Cinema is based in Holland, but is rapidly branching out to other countries as we speak.
